A tsunami has reached the coast of southern Japan's Miyazaki prefecture, Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported, after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck western Japan.
No anomalies have been detected in the operation of the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant in Kagoshima Prefecture. Its operation continues as normal, NHK reported.
JR Kyushu suspended high-speed train operations after the earthquake, KYODO news agency reported.
