The improvement projects of the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road were inspected on Monday by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Yannis Karousos, speaking of another "long-awaited project" which the President of the Republic had announced and had put it among his priorities.

He noted that this is a project costing 17.6 million euros including VAT, 3.25 kilometers long, which will significantly upgrade the Municipalities and Communities of the region. "This is another project, which the local authorities have been waiting for decades and we prove that we are the Government that has turned words and announcements into projects,", he said.

In addition, he mentioned that the Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport has under its responsibility projects in excess of 1.8 billion euros. These are projects that are either under execution, under tender or will be announced in the coming months, he said.

"All the long-awaited projects are on the way to implementation, while in a few days we will sign the contract for the construction of the Palaichori highway – Nicosia. A few days ago we signed the contract for the construction of the largest project in the Government's budget, which is none other than the New Cyprus Museum, at a cost of 144 million euros, said Mr. Karousos.

In response to a journalist's question regarding the implementation schedule and any inconvenience the citizens may suffer from the construction of the project, Mr. Karousos explained that "any inconvenience will be temporary, while the projects will remain to serve the citizens".< /p>

At the same time, he said that in consultation with the local authorities, any problems that arise will be dealt with and solutions will be provided "with the aim of delivering the project within the schedule which is March 2025". At the moment, he said, there is no problem with the start of the work, as all the necessary arrangements for traffic have been made.

For his part, the President of the Voroklini Community Council, Neophytos Fakontis, he thanked Mr. Karousos and the Ministry of Transport for the support he offers and in general the Anastasiades Government and the President of the Republic himself because the projects that the local community has been waiting for for three decades, as he said, are proceeding with implementation, starting with the breakwaters and arriving today at the Larnaca-Dekelia road project.
