Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will meet with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Brussels on Monday, according to a Community official who confirmed the information to during the briefing of correspondents in view of the forthcoming Foreign Affairs Council.

Regarding the issue of possible sanctions against Russia regarding its aggressive actions against Ukraine , the official noted that although there is a consensus from the leaders on the package of measures (of which they were informed by the Commission on Thursday during the informal meeting of the European Council), their adoption is not foreseen at the meeting of foreign ministers on Monday, unless there is a new offensive move from the Turkish side.
However, he noted, as there is consensus, it is expected that if necessary the decision on implementation can be taken without delay.
In other matters, the Community official, when asked in relation to the statements of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Tsavousoglou on the Greek islands, referred to the relevant statement of the Commission and reiterated that the issue of sovereignty in these islands is not even a matter of discussion.
The agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council will include the latest developments on Ukraine's border with Russia and Belarus, the mobilization of Russian troops as well as developments in Belarus and the wider security situation in Europe.
The Foreign Ministers will have a working breakfast with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
The Foreign Ministers will also exchange views on EU climate diplomacy, a topic on which they are expected to draw conclusions.
