Kassianidou discussed urbanism and cultural decentralization with the Union of Communities

    The Deputy Minister of Culture met with the President and representatives of the Union of Cyprus Communities

    Issues that concern the communities, such as the need to create conditions to deal with urbanism, were at the center of a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Culture, Vassiliki Kassianidou, and the President of the Union of Cyprus Communities, Andreas Kitromelidis.

    According to announcement from the Deputy Ministry of Culture, Ms. Kassianidou expressed the intention of the Deputy Ministry to take all the necessary actions, in order for the Cultural Decentralization Program to be utilized and implemented by more communities.

    He noted that the Deputy Ministry of Culture aims to further promote the implementation of the program as throughout the year in order to attract visitors to these areas all year round.

    For his part, Mr. Kitromelidis pointed out the importance of the Government's policies towards the development of mountain communities and rural areas, including of the housing policy being promoted.

    He stated that these policies, combined with actions of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and other competent Ministries, can create an integrated development framework that will keep communities alive.

    The President of the Union of Cyprus Communities also referred to the Cultural Program Decentralization that has recently been announced by the Deputy Ministry of Culture and aims to, pointing out that it has improved, thus offering better prospects for the development of traffic.

    According to the announcement during the meeting, it was agreed to hold provincial meetings within February, with the aim of informing community representatives about the existing programs of the Deputy Ministry from which they can benefit, as well as support for submitting applications for cultural activities.

    This, the announcement continues, will allow better utilization of resources and the organization of better quality cultural events to attract the public in the mountainous and rural areas.
