KE: Increase of 80 million in spending on social benefits until May 2024

Expenditures for social benefits have increased by 80 million euros until the end of May 2024, compared to the corresponding period last year, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymiotis said on Monday after the Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace.

As he stated, the Cabinet was today briefed on spending on social benefits up to the end of May, explaining that these amounted to 760 million euros, compared to 680 million in 2023 for the same period.

Mr. Letymiotis indicated that the increase of 12%, i.e. 80 million euros, is due to the increased expenses for social welfare benefits by 50 million euros and to the increased expenses for health benefits by 30 million euros.
