KEDIPES will return interest of €4.6 million for the first half of 2023, within days, to borrowers with restructured credit facilities, as part of the Interest Subsidy Plan, as a reward for meeting the repayment schedule of their credit facilities for the year 2023.
A total of 69% of the potentially eligible loans benefited from the interest subsidy, which bear as a base interest rate, the ECB base rate, while loan repayments were collected in the first half of €16.2 million, of which €3.7 million related to loans amounting to €79 million that were informed to participate in the Plan.
In a statement, KEDIPES expresses satisfaction with the first results of the Interest Subsidy Plan that it had announced last March, after the successive increases in the basic interest rate of the European Central Bank (ECB).
The total number of eligible loans amounted to 3,338 loans with the balance of loans benefiting from the subsidy amounting to €390 million on 6/30/2023.
During the Plan, according to KEDIPES, loans amounting to €79 million that were in arrears on 12/31/2022 covered their arrears and were added to the interest repayment perimeter on 6/30/2023, with the result that 69% of potentially eligible loans (from 52% on 31/12/2022).
“The amount of interest refund is estimated at €4.6 million for the first half of 2023 or 41% of the interest that would be charged before the refund”, he notes .
According to KEDIPES, from all eligible loans, the amount collected from repayments, during the period from 12/31/2022 to 06/30/2023, amounted to €16.2 million, of which €3.7 million related to loans amounting to €79 million that were informed.
The affected accounts will be credited within days, KEDIPES concludes.
