A man with multiple outstanding arrest warrants has died after a stolen Lamborghini Huracán crashed at more than 100 mph during a police chase in Los Angeles.

Due to the severity of the collision, the car was cut in half and the driver was thrown several meters into the air.

The video released by the Los Angeles Police Departmentshows the moment officers stopped Elliott Dugan, 51, on the morning of April 6 at the intersection of Sherman Way and Reseda Boulevard after they spotted him asleep at the wheel of the $250,000 supercar.

After pulls him over, one of the officers asks for his papers, and upon discovering that the car was reported stolen and that Dugan had multiple warrants for his arrest, the officer asked him to get out of the car.

The pursuit and the tragic end of the 51-year-old followed.
