For Berlin and the great ITB tourism exhibition, departed the new Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, head of the delegation of the Deputy Ministry.
This is the first trip of Mr. Koumis after assuming his duties. The ITB exhibition is considered to be one of the largest tourist exhibitions worldwide.
As the Press and Public Relations officer of the Deputy Ministry, Pantelis Ioannidis, stated to KYPE, in the context of the exhibition, Mr. Koumis will have contacts with all the major travel organizers and airlines in Germany, for a first acquaintance and examination of the prospects of further strengthening relations with all the tourism factors of the specific market, with the aim of maintaining or further developing the flow of tourist arrivals from this country.
Mr. Koumis returns to Cyprus next Thursday.
His contacts of the new Deputy Minister are made in the wake of the significant momentum recorded in 2022 by arrivals from the German market, which set a record for the last 20 years. Based on available data, arrivals from Germany last year recorded a 31% increase compared to 2019.
