The Department of Environment yesterday gave the green light to the Metropolitan of Kykkos Nikiforos for the construction of a six-storey building, 27 meters high with a basement, in the existing building of the European University of Cyprus in Engomi, which will host the medical/dental department. The building will be constructed on the site where the University's outdoor amphitheater is located today, which will be demolished. The proposed project will accommodate approximately 120 students and 25 staff.
The project is expected to take approximately two years to complete. The owner of the project is the Kykkos Monastery to which the land belongs and specifically the whole area. The estimated cost of the project is € 7.74 million. The new six-storey building will be connected to the existing University building with an overground bridge, as it is separated by a road.
