The Cyprus Confederation of Disabled Organizations (CYSOA) calls on the Cypriot state to take steps to include the rights of women and girls with disabilities in all laws and policies that affect their lives.

In its announcement, KYSOA also calls on the state to create appropriate services for women with disabilities who have children, such as transportation services, child care and supervision, employment incentives, empowerment programs and training and take measures to reconcile professional and family life for the benefit of dependent children and adults with disabilities.

Notes that advancing the gender equality of women with disabilities and mothers of children with disabilities requires concrete actions by decision-makers to address the systemic marginalization of women and girls with disabilities , such as empowering them and ensuring their independence in all areas of life as well as combating violence against women, particularly by criminalizing forced sterilization and forced abortion practices against women and girls with disabilities who continue to are applied in our country.

One of the constant demands of KYSOA, it is stated, is the provision of a decent allowance to the disabled mother for the care and upbringing of her children, regardless from whether she establishes a right based on her contributions to the Social Insurance Fund, recognizing her contribution to society, the state and her child.
