Technicians are continuing the work in order to restore the Portal of the Land Registry, after the cyber attack it has received, with the Director of the Land Registry declaring to the KYPE that tomorrow they will be in a better position to know when and in what way the Portal will reopen, which is considered a critical sector for the Cypriot economy.

The Land Registry Portal had since Friday morning terminated operations due to “technical problems”, as stated in an announcement by the Department of Land Registry and Land Surveying.

“We are fighting at the same pace, the technicians are making efforts to restore the gate,” the Director of the Land Registry told KYPE, adding that the work will continue today and tomorrow.

When asked when the gate will be able to reopen Gate, Mr. Ilias said that he is not in a position to know, adding that the situation will be examined in a new teleconference with the technicians of the Land Registry, the Department of Informatics Services (TYP), the Digital Security Authority (APSA) and the companies that maintain the Land Registry's equipment.

“Tomorrow we will be able to know better as to when we will be able to reopen, either gradually or in total”, added Mr. Ilias.

Asked about this, Mr. Ilias said that there are backup copies of the system, to add however that it is being examined by the technicians if a problem has arisen there as well, adding that so far it has not been possible to identify where they have top be infected with either viruses or malware.
