An increase of 18.7% was recorded in building permits issued in the first eight months of the year, according to data released by the Statistical Service. There was an increase in the total area by 8.1% while their total value decreased by 4.5%.
The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits issued by municipal authorities and provincial administrations in August 2021 amounted to 523. The total value of these permits reached € 143.4 million and the total area 124.9 thousand square meters. With these permits, 554 housing units are planned to be built.
During the period January – August 2021, 5,240 building permits were issued compared to 4,416 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording an increase of 18.7%. The total value of these permits decreased by -4.5% and the total area increased by 8.1%. The number of housing units increased by 12.1%.
Building permits are an important indication of future activity in the construction sector.
