A 24-year-old resident of Larnaca was injured on Thursday night, after an attack by five strangers in the Mackenzie area.

According to the Police, around 8:50 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, December 1, a 48-year-old woman, contacted the TAE of Larnaca and reported that her 24-year-old son, a resident of Larnaca, while he was on foot in the Mackenzie area, was attacked by five unknown persons.

Members of the TAE and the Department of Minor Offenses of Larnaca went to the area where they located the 24-year-old, who reported that he had been attacked and was taken by ambulance to the Larnaca General Hospital.

The young man was examined by the doctors on duty and it was found that he suffered a cephalohematoma, abrasions on the head and body and two small lacerations on the left buttock, which were stitched up. The 24-year-old was then fired.

From examinations carried out by members of the Police, it was established that at around 20.20 yesterday, as the 24-year-old was walking on Tasos Mitsopoulos Avenue in Larnaca, he realized that he was being followed by a car. The young man headed towards Tuz Hane Street where, as he reported, he was attacked by five unknown persons, including the driver of the vehicle.

After the attack, the car was driven against a one-way road, resulting in a collision, under circumstances under investigation, lightly with a passing vehicle driven by a 72-year-old man. No one was injured in the collision, but the 72-year-old's vehicle was slightly damaged.

Then the driver of the vehicle, in which the five people were riding, left the scene.

The police continue the tests to identify the perpetrators and the driver of the vehicle and is investigating a case of conspiracy to commit a felony and a misdemeanor, assault causing actual bodily harm, injury, road traffic collision and leaving the scene of an accident.

The case is being examined by the TAE and Larnaca Traffic.
