Regarding the release from prison with restrictive conditions decided by the court for Petros Filippidis, his lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos spoke.
“It should be made clear that Petros Filippidis was not released for health reasons. The prosecution proposal has been published. The court, accepting our request to be released, also developed a rationale. There is no basis for the actor's release, his state of health,” he initially said, speaking to MEGA.
“Four state documents were presented to the court of the General State Court of Nicaea. The complainants went so far as to say that there was no document, however there were 4. One of them said that on the first day – Thursday – the doctors told Petros Filippidis that he cannot go out because the underlying illness he has can cause another stroke, he said that “I want to leave and I take responsibility, because if I'm not in court on Friday morning, people will say I'm acting”. He signed a paper that he is leaving the hospital at his own risk. The actor has a hereditary underlying disease and his father had died of the same thing at the age of 62″,
“The court, although these documents existed, “ignored” them, because the conditions for extending the detention for 18 months does not refer to health reasons but: not to be suspected of fleeing abroad, and secondly if he is released not to commit again the crimes for which he is accused”, added the actor's lawyer.
“So with the evidence that existed, the court unanimously decided that Mr. Filippidis is not going to do the above mentioned”, he stated and clarified that,
“We did not request release from prison, one who is remanded in custody for 12 months, a trial is held to decide whether his detention will be extended or not. The release of Petros Filippidis has nothing to do with the health problem for which he was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. His reasoning does not include his health reasons. We had also requested electronic surveillance of the actor. If there wasn't this climate against him, he wouldn't even have been prosecuted”.
Petros Filippidis, after his release I entered the cell he was in, he was in a state of lethargy, I woke him up and his I said I have something pleasant to announce to him.
“You are free,” I told him, “the court decided unanimously.” He hugged me and sobbed and couldn't speak to me for a few minutes, and I told him to calm down, don't get hurt again”, concluded Mr. Dimitrakopoulos.
