Panikos Leonidou was elected by the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party as its new representative. In the vote for the election of a parliamentary representative, Panikos Leonidou prevailed over Pavlos Mylonas with four against three votes.
According to our information and from the positions taken by specific members of the parliamentary group, it seems that the party leadership seemed to favor P. Leonidou in order to take the specific position despite Pavlos Mylonas.
As we are informed, the president of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, chose to abstain during the process of electing a parliamentary representative.
Apart from the Limassol MP himself, Christiana Erotokritou, Chrysis Pantelidis and Christos Senekis were in favor of P. Leonidou's candidacy.
The placement of Chr. Erotokritou and Chr. Pantelidis in favor of the candidacy of P. Leonidou is interpreted as a sample of preference of the party leadership. Both belong to the close circle of associates of the president of DIKO, Nikola Papadopoulos.
Zacharias Koulias and Chrysanthos Savvidis, in addition to him, supported the candidacy of Pavlos Mylonas.
Christos Orphanides was absent during the session of the parliamentary group.
