A written statement was issued by the Office of the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic Viktoras Papadopoulos regarding the letter sent by President Anastasiadis to the UN Secretary General for the informal Five-Party Conference on the Cyprus issue in Geneva.
Papadopoulos' written statement:
Today, the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis, sent a reply letter to the UN Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, expressing his satisfaction with the invitation he received for the informal conference on Cyprus, in Geneva, on April 27-29. .
He also thanked the UN Secretary General for his efforts and for the efforts of his Special Envoy for Cyprus, Jane Hall Luth, to reach an agreement regarding the convening of the conference on specific dates.
President Anastasiadis reaffirmed his readiness and determination to engage with real political will in the informal conference talks, in order to find common ground that would lead to the resumption of talks to find a viable and workable solution, based on now the work that has been done, the understanding recorded on 25 November 2019 in Berlin, the UN resolutions and decisions, the principles and values of the EU and the occasional Summit Agreements.
