Libyan Foreign Minister beheaded: Khalifa Haftar ally, with bad relations with Turkey and episodic meetings with Tsavousoglu

Libyan Foreign Minister Naila al-Mangouz has been fired and banned from leaving the country, as announced by the presidency, while according to Libya Panorama, she has opened an investigation against her “for administrative violations”.

Al-Mangous, a lawyer and human rights activist, is accused of making foreign policy decisions without consulting the Presidential Council.

The politician is close to General Khalifa Haftar, the powerful Libyan man who will also run for the presidency in the upcoming elections, and has repeatedly angered Turkey and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu during his visit to Libya last May. insisted and pushed for the removal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from her country. Among them, of course, are the Turks.

In fact, since then, the pressure of Turks and a group of Muslim clerics on the transitional government of Libya to resign Mangou was very intense, something she has denounced, even talking about threats against her.

Haftar and the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament have also spoken out against the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, which they do not recognize, while the country's caretaker Prime Minister, on the other hand, maintains quite good relations with Tayyip Erdogan and Ankara.

According to the decree signed by the Presidential Council, “a committee of inquiry has been set up under the chairmanship of Abdallah Alafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council” which will report on the charges against her within 14 days.

The dismissal and travel ban were decided against Mangou a few days before an international conference on Libya was held in Paris.

The conference scheduled for November 12th is expected to prepare for the December 24th presidential election, which will be followed by parliamentary elections a month later.

The election is expected to end a decade of chaos in the country following the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011.
