For one more year, remaining committed to the conservation of resources and the protection of the environment, a partnership continues with the aim of action against plastic pollution, which is one of the greatest dangers for both the coastal and the marine ecosystem.< /strong>
Lidl Cyprus continues to support actions and actions concerning the place and the environment in which it operates, through an effective and fruitful collaboration with the AKTI Study and Research Center, which took place in the years 2021-2022, with active action and education about plastic pollution of the ecosystem.
The main objective of the collaboration is to inform, raise awareness and mobilize citizens in terms of saving natural resources, reducing the reckless use of plastic, producing goods through a circular economy and consistent recycling. Focusing on the educational experiential activity, the AKTIS team visits schools, informs the children, proposes solutions, takes them to the shores for model coastal clean-ups with the implementation of scientific processes of source separation, counting, data entry based on the international protocol of the European Directive on the Sea.
In the two years of cooperation between Lidl Cyprus and AKTIS, 2021 and 2022, visits were made to 70 schools in all cities and 10,389 students were informed about marine pollution, microplastics and the threats they cause to our health, but also everything that can for every active citizen to do. 5 seabed cleanups were carried out with the participation of 132 volunteer divers, 12 shore cleanups with 1287 volunteers and a total of 4 tons of garbage were collected. respect for the environment, saving natural resources with a view to shaping a sustainable future for everyone, which is the main guide on the road to a better tomorrow.
