The Association of Lobbyists and Public Affairs Professionals expressed support in a meeting with the Minister of Justice, Stefi Drakou, in support of the adoption of the proposed bill entitled “On Transparency in Public Decision-Making Processes and Related Issues Law 2019”.
At the same time, during the meeting, the association requested that the LPAP suggestions for stricter provisions for the benefit of transparency be included. Also, regarding the relevant bill entitled “The Law on the Establishment and Operation of an Independent Authority against Corruption 2020”, the issue of the term of office was raised by LPAP as well as the need for continuous training of the members of the authority.
According to a statement from the Association, the Minister of Justice said that the bill could be passed in its current form where there is a convergence of views between the various parties and be revised later. Following this, the LPAP delegation requested that a three-year review and training clause be introduced in the bill for the people who will deal with the issue, something that the Minister assured would be done.
