Locks ballots without surprises

The provincial conferences of AKEL were completed on Wednesday night, which showed who will be on the party's ballots in the upcoming parliamentary elections on May 30th. The official ratification of the ballots by the Central Committee is expected tomorrow. In some provinces, such as Limassol, the aroma of New Forces is strong, as well as the presence of party officials on a nationwide scale. The presence of personalities from the field of education, but also of culture is also strong.

The process was completed without much surprise, however there were expected differences in the order in which the candidates were voted in relation to the ranking list formed by the provincial committees on the basis of criteria and voting last Monday and Tuesday. There seems to be a backlash from some of the process for evaluation by the district committees, an issue that comes up almost every time this process takes place before elections, as in the last congresses of the Left Party. Some members argue that the evaluation list should be abolished and that those interested should be put in alphabetical order before the provincial conferences for voting, while there are those who demand further specification-differentiation of the criteria and the voting according to which the classification is made by provincial committees, so as to be more objective, as they argue.

More about the issue in the printed version of “P” and for the subscribers of POLITIS PREMIUM the digital version of the newspaper in PDF at the same time with its printed circulation daily from 05.00 in the morning.
