The protection provided by the booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine against treatment with the Omicron variant is maintained at a high level several weeks later, according to British data.
The Health Insurance Service of the United Kingdom reports in a new technical update that the protection against hospitalization is at 92% two weeks after the third dose.
This percentage drops to only 83% ten or more weeks after the booster dose.
The same study confirms that, on the other hand, protection against the third dose against mild illness from Omicron is declining faster.
The efficacy against simple symptomatic infection is initially at 65-70%, but after ten weeks it decreases to 45-50%.
