In January 2022, on an annual basis, the total registrations of motor vehicles decreased significantly by 23.3%, according to the data published by the Statistical Service on Tuesday, mainly due to the significant decrease, by 585, in the registrations of passenger cars.
Total registrations of motor vehicles reached 2,633 compared to 3,431 in January 2021.
According to the Statistical Service, the registrations of saloon passenger cars decreased by 21.4% and amounted to 2,147, compared to 2,732 in the corresponding month of 2021. Of the total saloon passenger cars, 1,111 or 51.7% were new and 1,036 or 48.3% were used cars.
In addition, bus registrations fell to two in January 2022, from four in the same month of 2021.
Cargo vehicle registrations fell to 280 in January 2022, compared to 383 in the corresponding month of 2021, down 26.9%. Specifically, light trucks decreased by 28.6% to 215, heavy trucks by 27.5% to 29 and road tractors (trailers) by 82.6% to four, while rental vehicles increased by 68.4% to 32.
According to the Statistical Service, moped registrations <50ke decreased to five in January 2022, from 14 in the corresponding month of 2021.
Motorcycle registrations> 50ke decreased by 32.6% to 174 in January 2022, compared to 258 in the same month of 2021.
