Indicative of the situation that prevails is the ratio of LPG vehicles in relation to vehicles that run on conventional fuels (diesel and gasoline). Specifically, based on the data of the Road Transport Department, out of a total of 711,680 vehicles whose license was renewed this year, only 739 run on LPG. The licensed craftsmen attribute the lack of interest from the State to the taxation imposed on oil and gasoline, which fills the state coffers, in relation to the taxation on LPG, which is lower. As the director of EuropeGas, Filippos Kollitsis, tells “F”, before 2013, reduced traffic taxes were imposed on vehicles that were running on LPG. However, paradoxically, when the installation and use of LPG in cars was legalized, there was no reduction in the license. As a result, he explains, the phenomenon is that vehicles introduced before 2011 pay a lower registration fee, even if their owners do not operate the LPG device, while vehicles that were released later and which have more modern LPG mechanisms, pay more traffic taxes. He also noted that while some people do not fail to talk about reducing emissions, at the same time there are about 20-year-old vehicles, very energy-intensive (such as double cabs), for which a lower license is paid compared to vehicles that run on LPG./p>

Mr. Kallitsis stated that one of the reasons why & nbsp; one does not choose to convert his vehicle, is the fact that gas stations are measured in the fingers of one hand. & Nbsp;

He also showed that in the consumer price observatory, & nbsp; the prices of all fuels except LPG are recorded, so there is not enough information to the citizen to be aware at all times that there is this option. & Nbsp;

Although the impression that prevails is that most of the vehicles that are converted are large-capacity vehicles, Mr. Kollitsis stated that most of them fall into the category between 1,400-1,600 cubic centimeters. As he explained, one of the main criteria of the owners in the conversion of their vehicles is the & nbsp; degree of their use and not only their displacement. That is, if a 1,400-cubic-foot car travels several kilometers each month, while a large-capacity vehicle travels relatively few kilometers, then the smaller vehicle is expected to convert. & nbsp;

Savings range from 15% -20%

It is worth noting that the fuel savings with the use of LPG, compared to gasoline vehicles, is around 15% -20%, so every vehicle owner should take this factor into account. & Nbsp;

In the case of diesel vehicles, they are converted, but because the ignition is different (compared to gasoline) in order for the vehicle to operate, 70% diesel and 30% LPG must be used, so the savings are limited to 10%. In addition, the conversion should take into account the conversion cost, which (for diesel cars) is around € 3,000. & Nbsp;
