A Catholic priest, who was pulled from the rubble of a building in central Madrid on Wednesday after being seriously injured in a gas explosion, was taken to hospital today, according to the archdiocese. its announcement.

Madrid first aid services said all available indications were that the blast at Caye Toledo, a road leading outside the city center, was caused by a gas leak.

The upper five floors of the building were completely destroyed, their walls collapsed as well as the facade of the building, while the two lower floors remained almost intact, but were damaged by smoke. Priests also lived in the building.

However, there were no injuries in the adjacent buildings, a nursing home and an educational institution.
