Renato Margassa explained how he came to Cyprus in 2008 on behalf of Doxa in an interview with Savvas Pilakoutas and Savvas on Tour's Penalty Box show.
The Portuguese midfielder with Cypriot citizenship, who returned to Nea Salamina this year, explained that in the 2004/05 season he was a teammate in the Portuguese second division team (Alverca) with Rui Jr., who then, in the 2007/08 season, played in Doxa. .
In the summer of 2008, Pampos Christodoulou and Jr. went to Portugal together to find players and saw Margassa playing, who had previously left very good impressions on his former teammate.
At the end of the match, Jr. suggested to Margassa to come to Cyprus for Doxa, first getting the answer… “Let me first see where Cyprus is and let me answer you”!
Finally, after what he heard from Rui Jr., Margassa was convinced to come to our island and after 13 years he is still here, making a career in Doxa, AEK, Omonia, Nea Salamina, Anorthosis and again this year in the red and whites.
