Instructions for immediate repair of damages but also for finding solutions so that there are no similar problems in the future due to weather phenomena, were given at a meeting on Wednesday between the Minister of Interior Nikos Nouris and the Community Authority of Lympia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the community affected by the rains of the past days and inspected the situation with the help of the provincial administration. She stated that already, with her immediate intervention, one of the roads that had a problem was restored and work is already being done on the second. Mr. Nouris said that there is already an assessment of the damage to the various private properties and this problem was also discussed with the President of the community.
He stated that the Ministry has undertaken the rehabilitation of some rural roads, with the entire cost being covered by the Ministry, except for a contribution of the community authority.
He stressed that an effort is not to repeat similar problems and that specific issues have been identified, e.g. and the EAC has been notified to address the issue. Also, a hydrological study will be carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of the Interior to get an idea of why the problem exists.
He also referred to 1-2 incidents which seem to be blamed for the problem of floods due to illegal interventions by individuals. As Mr. Nouris said, there is determination and the problem will be rectified immediately. He also noted that for Lympia but also for other areas, the request is to have support, but also to find solutions for non-recurrence of phenomena.
The President of the community, Michalis Georgiou, thanked the competent state services for their response, saying that with the Minister they saw all the problems and solutions for wound healing, but also planning a solution, so that the solutions that will be given are timeless.
