A program entitled “Ambassadors of Culture” is implemented by Melco Cyprus in collaboration with the Limassol Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAL).

The aim of the program is to equip its staff with knowledge about the rich history, traditions and sights of Cyprus.

Melco employees can become ambassadors of Cypriot tourism, transferring the knowledge they gain from the specific program to the visitors of our country. The Company's aim is at a later stage to include the specific program in the training of all its staff members.

The first group of employees attended a two-day comprehensive training program, which included seminars as well as visits to archaeological sites, including the Ancient Theater of Curio and the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylatis. The participants enthusiastically watched the program organized by ETAL and look forward to imparting the knowledge they have acquired about the rich history of Cyprus to the foreign visitors.

The Ms. Christina Charalambous, Head of the Strategy, Marketing and International Relations Department of the Under-Minister of Tourism, said: “We are sure that Melco's Cultural Ambassadors will develop into great representatives of Cyprus, who will present in the best possible way our island to visitors”. Mrs Charalambous congratulated Melco for the innovative actions it implements to support Cypriot tourism.

The Mr. Grant Johnson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, said: “Cyprus is a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage. I am sure that our Company's Cultural Ambassadors will contribute to the promotion of the culture of Cyprus, offering even more unforgettable experiences to visitors. Melco remains committed to the preservation and promotion of local traditions and cultural heritage”.

Culture and Heritage is an important strategic pillar of Melco's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Cyprus. It is noted that in 2021, Melco sponsored the installation of a total of four new gates at the Acropolis of the Ancient Theater of Curio and at the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylatis in Limassol, as part of the “Heritage Gates” initiative, which was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities and had as aim to actively promote the authenticity of the most important archaeological monuments of the island.
