Reveals that working alongside Bill Gates amid their divorce was painful in 'countless ways'
For Melinda, continuing to do business alongside Bill amid their separation was not easy

Melinda Gates, 58, who divorced officially with Bill Gates in August 2021, made several revelations about their split after 27 years of marriage, noting that time played a big factor in her own experience.
“The weird thing about COVID is that he gave me privacy to do what I had to do,” she shared in an interview with Fortune on October 3. “It's incredibly painful, in countless ways, but I've had the privacy to get through it.”
In addition to being husband and wife, Bill and Melinda Gates were also partners in their eponymous foundation, which was launched in 2000. For Melinda, continuing to do business with Bill in the midst of their separation was not easy.
She reported that, “I continued to work with the person I was estranged from and had to show up and I'm my best self every day,” he told the report. “So even though I might be crying at 9 in the morning, by 10 I had to be on a conference call with the person I'm avoiding, I had to show up and be my best self.”
