MEP/Four months: To vote for something that does not make children guinea pigs

The Minister of Education Athina Michailidou was hosted at Tomes ai Gegonota, who spoke about the approval of the regulations for the four-month exams by the Plenary of the Parliament.

Initially, he stated that the arrangement was extraordinary, related to the current year and with the aim of closing the year smoothly for the benefit of students. "The ultimate goal for next year is a modern pedagogical evaluation system that will focus on students".

He explained that they do not operate in a vacuum. "We have as a basis pedagogical science which gives all countries the lights to build and modernize evaluation systems".

He emphasized that everything is done in a way that supports the student so that he can  knowledge to be taught and valued. "In consultation with all agencies we will propose a system that will meet the needs of the children".

Asked if they are completely leaving the four months, she said that "I can't prejudge the final proposal but it is on the table all the positives and everything is up for discussion. What interests us is to understand that the evaluation should be something positive and not just an examination.

He added that they are heading in this direction. "I hope that by May we will have a concrete proposal for the Parliament. Unfortunately, we are not the ones who vote. We should convince with the pedagogical criteria and with the dialogue to vote for something modern, flexible that does not make our children guinea pigs».
