The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Athena Michaelidou, in her message for the start of the new school year, notes that the education sector is the largest investment of the state, adding that schools are the most vibrant part of society.

With the message addressed to pupils, students and teachers, Mrs. Michailidou states that the Ministry of Education seeks to ensure conditions that promote the educational work and offer a learning environment without barriers and exclusions, prioritizing the quality and creative operation of schools and universities.
Alongside the improvement of the building and logistical infrastructure, we are implementing a series of reforms, policies and actions that upgrade our education system, in accordance with the demands of today's society, modern pedagogical approaches and the needs and abilities of each child, each new and of each new individual, he adds.
"Honoring yourselves, your families and your schools with your morals and achievements, take advantage of the opportunities that will be given to you, to achieve the goals you set, to acquire knowledge and skills, to develop your critical ability , strengthen your spiritual cultivation and create friendships and useful experiences for a lifetime" he said addressing children and youth.
He further assured that the Ministry of Education will work to ensure their inalienable and vested right to education while creating the prospects for develop their special interests and personalities and develop into active and democratically minded citizens.
Addressing teachers she notes that "the awareness of the importance and value of function you perform, your dedicated contribution to the all-round education of our children and young people and your decisive contribution to the evolutionary course of education in our country, constitutes an example that cultivates attitudes and life values”.
He then assured them that the Ministry will continue to strengthen their professional development for the benefit of teachers, children, youth and education in the country.
