Metropolitan Basilios of Constantia and Famagusta with his announcement expresses warm thanks to those and those who contributed to his effort to claim the position of Archbishop of Cyprus.
"It is with emotion that I have received your heartfelt support, appreciation and love and I wish to thank each and every one of you individually", he says.
He thanks "the representatives of the state authorities, the local authorities of the free and occupied Famagusta, organized bodies, ensembles, associations, educational, academic, business and sports organizations, all Cypriots and the youth groups of the free province of Famagusta, as well as every person who publicly expressed their support for me.
He particularly thanks "the parishes and their collaborators, the church committees, the Christian associations and the clergy, mainly of the metropolitan region of Constantia and Famagusta, for the long-term support for the work of the Metropolis and their enthusiastic effort in the last period".
Also, he adds, thanks "I owe to all the volunteers of the support group and to those who contributed to the smooth running of the electoral process on December 18".
He notes that "everyone they showed, during the march to the elections and on the day of the elections, exemplary morals and ecclesiastical attitude”.
Finally, he thanked “all the Famagusta refugees, every voter and especially the young people, throughout Cyprus, especially in our metropolitan region, who came to the polls and practically showed their appreciation for me and their trust in my positions».
