The value of sports and the importance of participation was mentioned by Metropolitan Tamasou Isaias, speaking at a Conference entitled “Why should I follow Sports”, which took place on Friday morning at the Olympic Hall, in the presence of students and which was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
According to a statement from the Tamasos Diocese, in his speech at the conference the Metropolitan referred to the struggle to cultivate sports as a high ideal.
"Christ will put in heaven, those who struggle. Those who overcome will be judged if they really deserved the victory and possibly inherited the kingdom of heaven. But surely, the confident skywalkers, the confident sharers in the kingdom of god, those who will surely save their souls immortal in the ages, are those who know how to strive. I think this is the message you should take from sports. The journey of effort and struggle is more valuable than victory, he added
Continuing his speech, he talked about addictions, characterizing them as the biggest failure in human life.
< p> "Dependencies, various dependencies are a fallacy. It is a lie, an illusion. Addictions we think make us feel better for a moment and then disaster strikes. Our health breaks down, we become dependent on them and our dreams are destroyed, he concluded.
