On the agenda is the economic and fiscal situation in the euro zone and fiscal policy directions for 2024
The Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, is going to Brussels to participate tomorrow, Thursday and the day after, Friday, in the meetings of the Eurogroup and of Ecofin.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Keravnos will participate in the Eurogroup meeting, where, among other things, the Finance Ministers of the Eurozone will discuss the economic and fiscal situation in the Eurozone and fiscal policy directions for 2024, where they are expected to approve a relevant statement, in view of the preparation of next year's national budgets.
The Eurogroup will also meet, in an expanded composition, where Ministers will discuss the future of the European capital markets and financial markets, following the June Eurogroup meeting.
In addition, as reported, Ministers will continue their discussions on the digital euro. At the end of the Eurogroup session, the Minister of Finance will participate in a ceremony of the European Investment Bank, to participate in the initiative to raise funds to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.
On Friday, added, Makis Keraynos will represent Cyprus at the Ecofin Council meeting, where the Commission will present its proposals on an adjusted package of measures for the next generation of own resources, i.e. revenues for the EU budget.
The Council will also be informed about financial support to Ukraine in the context of the mid-term review of the EU's long-term budget. Ministers will exchange views on, among other things, how to take the customs union to the next level , the announcement concludes.
