Middle East: Hezbollah launched a series of drone attacks against Israel

Hezbollah has vowed to avenge his death, raising concerns that a major escalation could lead to a total conflict in the region.

At the same time, Lebanon's government is trying to prevent a Hezbollah response to Israel that could start a wider war, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib said today at a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart.

Four dead from an Israeli strike

While most of the firefights between Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been confined to the border, Maifandoun is located about 30 kilometers north of Lebanon's border with Israel.

Awaiting Iranian retaliation

Iran has vowed revenge for Haniya's murder, although Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the strike that killed him.

Iran summoned foreign ambassadors based in Tehran yesterday to warn of the country's “moral duty” to punish Israel for what it sees as “adventurism” and lawlessness in the killing of Haniya in the Iranian capital.

At the same time, it issued a NOTAM, with which it prohibits the passage of aircraft in almost all of its airspace, while for tomorrow, Wednesday, it called an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in Jeddah.
