The educational environmental program mind REset, after its 3rd year of completion, has now established itself as a great institution that aims to cultivate environmental culture and consciousness in children, the future citizens of Cyprus. The program in question, organized by the Organization Junior Achievement Cyprus, with the valuable support of Lidl Cyprus, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, has, so far, presented significant results from the participation of primary and secondary school students education.

Since the start of the program in 2021, the overall participation is remarkable, since more than 9,000 children from 140 schools (94 Primary and 46 Secondary) have participated in the program. It is a fun and interactive program, which offers a series of 5 lessons based on the 5 fields of action of the Schwarz group's REset Plastic strategy, in which Lidl Cyprus also participates, and is aimed at 5th and 6th graders and 1st graders and Second High School.

The mind REset program is implemented free of charge in public and private schools throughout Cyprus and is approved by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth. It consists of three main stages, the training of teachers and students, the participation of the teams in the Trade Fair, from which the 10 finalists emerge, and the Award Ceremony in which the two great “mind REsetters of the year” are highlighted. The modules of the program aim to bring students into contact with the field of environmental entrepreneurship and help them develop skills that will contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment. At the same time, their business ideas, evaluated for presentation quality, exhibition and stand design and stage presence, are inspired by the REset Plastic strategy, aligned with the global vision of reducing the use of plastics and promoting closed circles materials.

It is worth noting that for the academic year 2023-2024, 3063 students from 68 primary and secondary schools throughout Cyprus participated in this program, with the support of 154 teachers. The winners of the Final Competition were the EGGSclusive team from Engomi-Kyriakos Neokleous High Schoolwhich created innovative products that utilize the properties of eggshells for whitening, cleaning and exfoliation and the PLANt Be company group from Stavros Primary School (KB'), which created single- or multiple-use utilitarian objects from pine needles and flour paste. These teams stood out among 10 great finalists with their innovative and environmental proposals with the main goal of reducing plastic. You can see the video from this year's event here.

Lidl Cyprus, reflecting the vision “Less plastic – Closed Loops of raw materials”, continues to vigorously and actively defend environmental sustainability. Through initiatives such as mind REset, Lidl Cyprus confirms its commitment to cultivate a sense of responsibility in the new generation, guiding them towards greener choices for a better tomorrow.
