A proposal by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth to improve the process of hiring teachers and the system of appointments in education, was presented on Thursday to the educational organizations OELMEK, OLTEK and POED.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Neophytos Papadopoulos, had a meeting today at the Ministry with the trade unions OELMEK, OLTEK and POED.
During the meeting, the General Director presented to the representatives of the Organizations a proposal of the Ministry of Defense for the years 2023-2027, regarding the "Investment in the recruitment process of teachers", and the "Ensuring the timely staffing of school units".
This is a Proposal, which, as noted by the Director General, has already been presented to the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, as well as to the President and the Members of the Education Service Committee.
< p> Specifically, as Mr. Papadopoulos mentioned, what is envisaged in the proposal is the increase of permanent teacher positions with a corresponding reduction in the number of part-time teachers, and a modification of the existing contract offer regime and the examinations for admission to the appointment list.
The General Manager, closing the meeting, handed over the proposal to the representatives of the trade unions, informing them that in the immediate future, separate meetings will be scheduled with the leadership of each organization to discuss their positions as far as the proposal is concerned, with a horizon of completion of the consultations in January 2023.
