Those who refuse to implement the legislation are fighting the GESS, said among others the Minister of Finance Konstantinos Petridis, responding to those who accuse him of being an opponent of the system

He pointed out before her Parliamentary Audit Committee, that the GESS should cost 2300 per employee, while it costs 3200, emphasizing that the taxpayer pays 2 and 3 times the GESS and the services he receives.

Fire from the Auditor General

The Auditor General, Odysseas Michailidis, made complaints before the Parliamentary Audit Committee regarding the audits in the GESS but also in the issue of taxation. According to the report of the Audit Office, out of the five specialist doctors who received more than 600 thousand euros in 2020, none of them submitted a tax return for either 2019 or 2020.

As for 2018 according to the tax return imposed by the doctors, their fees ranged from 36 to 110 thousand. In addition, the Auditor General referred to the issue of hospitals, noting that the inspections carried out by the OAU are incomplete. He even gave the example of a maternity clinic in Limassol, whose requirements reach 26% of deliveries nationwide, while 60% of complicated deliveries come from this hospital.
