The leader of the Democratic Party in the occupied territories and “minister of tourism”, Fikri Ataoglou, said in his statements that the enclosed city of Varos is important for tourism and the economy of the “country”.
According to the media, as reported by the Press and Information Office, in a written statement issued by his “ministry”, Ataoglou claimed that the Turkish Cypriot “people” stood up against the injustices that have been living on the island for years and continue defended his rights and claimed that no one said anything about the so-called embargo imposed on the Turkish Cypriot “people” by the whole world.
Blaming the Greek Cypriots for not reaching a solution to the Cyprus problem, Ataoglu stressed the need for negotiations between states with respect for political equality.
Stating that the closed Varosi is one of the issues in which Turkey is showing the most sensitivity, Ataoglu expressed support for the process that will begin with the demilitarization of a specific part of the enclosed city and noted that they want to continue the process in cooperation with the “mother homeland”.
