The Council of Ministers decided on Thursday, approving the proposals of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, to grant a one-off grant for families receiving child allowance for three or more dependents, as well as to increase the amount of the honorary allowance for mothers with many children.
In her statements, the Deputy Minister of Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, stated that the one-time grant will be granted to families who were entitled to child benefit on December 31, 2022 and have three or more dependent children. The amount of the sponsorship amounts to €70 per dependent child for families with three dependent children and €100 per dependent child for families with four or more dependent children.
In addition, he added that the sponsorship, which will be paid directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries, via bank transfer, will benefit a total of 7,349 families for 25,964 children and the expenditure is €2 million.
Furthermore, Mrs. Evangelou stated that with its decision the Council of Ministers also approved the increase of the honorary allowance for mothers with many children by €50. Therefore, the amount of the allowance, which is granted on an annual basis, will from this year amount to €250, €300 and €450, depending on the income category to which the beneficiaries fall, based on the income of the previous year.< /p>
