The Council of Ministers decided, according to an announcement by the Presidency, to start the process of deprivation of Cypriot citizenship by 4 persons. The decision also covers their dependents. These are 4 new people who have been identified in the updated list of sanctions imposed by the European Commission. With today's decision, the total number of persons for whom it was decided to deprive the Cypriot citizenship amounts to 8 out of the total of 1091 persons, to whom EU sanctions have been imposed.

The Council of Ministers approved the extension of the application period for the granting of state student care for the academic year 2021/2022 until Friday, May 6, 2022.

The Council of Ministers approved the Sponsorship Plan for the installation of a photovoltaic system for charging an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle (2022). The Plan provides financial incentives in the form of sponsorship, for the installation (or extension) of an existing photovoltaic (PV) system for the purpose of charging an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid vehicle and, optionally, for the purchase and installation of a charging point and/or conversion of the electrical installation of the house from single-phase to three-phase and/or the purchase of a battery to store the energy that will be produced by the PV system. Beneficiaries of the Plan are natural persons living in a house where there is an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle.

The budget of the proposed Plan amounts to 1,500,000 euros. The application process will remain in effect until 20/12/2023 or until the available budget is exhausted, whichever comes first.

This Grant Scheme is included in the Recovery and Sustainability Plan (SAP) of Cyprus for the period 2021–2026 (Axis 2.2 Sustainable Transport) and will be funded by the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism (MAA) of the European Union.

The Council of Ministers approved the Plan “Promotion of the Circular Economy in Hotel Facilities”. The Plan, with a total budget of € 1.4m, which is 100% funded by the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism, is part of the 3rd Policy Axis of the Cyprus Recovery and Sustainability Plan tomorrow for “Strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the economy” , aiming in conjunction with other measures to further enhance a sustainable and high value-added tourism sector. in their operation and the services and products they provide.

In the 1st cycle of the Plan is sought the support/participation of at least 50 hotel facilities, while in the 2nd cycle at least 18 hotel facilities are expected to proceed which with the completion of their participation, by March 2026, will have been certified as circular, based on the special Certification Scheme that will be developed in the context of the implementation of the Plan.
