The Government attaches particular importance to highlighting of our religious tradition, said Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Ioannou.
In his greeting at an event on the occasion of the celebration of the feast of Saint Mamados, which took place on Sunday evening in the square of the community of Trullo, he assured at the same time that both the Ministry of the Interior and the Government in general remain helpful in any action aimed at promoting the customs of the Trullo district of the Municipality of Aradippou.
The Minister of the Interior stated that “the feast of Saint Mama offers us the opportunity to reflect on the importance of the folklore tradition of our place, to remember our roots and values and to celebrate our faith”.
He added that “the government of Nikos Christodoulidis attaches particular importance to highlighting our religious tradition as a central part of our country's cultural identity. Tonight's event of the municipal apartment of Trullo of the Municipality of Aradippou gives the opportunity to artistic ensembles, residents and friends of the community, on the one hand, to contribute to the strengthening of our cultural heritage and, on the other hand, to showcase the special characteristics of the community of Trullo and the progress that has been achieved in the region”, he pointed out.
Referring to Saint Mama, Mr. Ioannou said that “for Orthodox Christians everywhere, it is a symbol of love, sacrifice and devotion. The life and work of Saint Mama teach us the importance of selfless giving to our fellow human beings, solidarity and love, values that represent the Greek-Christian character of our Cyprus and that today, more than ever, our society needs,” he said. .
