The government of Nikos Christodoulidis is investing in the development of communities, as part of the broader strategy to support the countryside and mountainous regions, he said on Friday evening the Minister of the Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, welcoming the annual dance party of the community of Doras, in Limassol District.

According to an announcement by the ITP, in his greeting, Konstantinos Ioannou said that the Government, and in particular the Ministry of the Interior, welcome and encourage any event organized by the local communities, which promotes the special characteristics of the region and brings the local people together us, in a meeting that is harmoniously combined with their tradition and entertainment.

The Government of Nikos Christodoulidis, he noted, “invests in the development of communities, in the context of the broader strategy to support the countryside and mountainous regions”, while he recalled that, in the context of the integrated National Strategy for the Development of Mountainous Communities, “the Ministry of the Interior is successfully implementing , from 2019, the Housing Schemes of Mountainous, Critical and Disadvantaged and Rural Areas, which have been recently revised to make them more attractive.

The community of Dora, he continued, is included in the Mountain Area Housing Plans as an extremely mountainous and extremely small and remote community, while expressing the belief that, with the revision of the plans, more families will show interest and contribute to its development.

Among other things, Mr. Ioannou said that the rich history, the religious tradition, the sights and the excellent quality viticultural products rank Dora high in the choices of visitors from Cyprus and the outside, while in combination with its traditional features, the beautification projects and public utility projects that were promoted, contributed to its rapid and leapfrog development.

Congratulating the President and members of the Community Council for the work they are doing, the Minister of the Interior said that “your vision for a model community for the region is pervasive” and expressed his confidence that, with the support of the Ministry, the Provincial Administration and the EOA Limassol, will continue to work “to preserve your unique identity and the even greater progress of your community”.
