In a campaign for targeted inspections for undeclared work in the construction industry and the construction sector, the Ministry is proceeding. Labor, Welfare and Social Security.
According to an announcement by the Ministry, the inspections will be carried out on a nationwide basis in March, as part of the effort to combat undeclared work and control compliance with Basic Labor Laws.
The Ministry notes that, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Legislation, in case of locating an undeclared person in the Social Insurance Fund, an administrative fine of € 500 is issued multiplied by 7 months, unless the employer proves that the period of violation was shorter. If the breach period is found to be longer, the fine is multiplied by the number of months in which it is detected.
“The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of all those involved in these economic activities in regarding the consequences of undeclared work and non-compliance with the provisions of the relevant Legislation “, the announcement states, while it is noted that checks will be made for compliance with basic employment conditions (salary, working hours, weekly off, etc.). ).
The Ministry notes that there is a nationwide Cypriot hotline for complaints to 77778577, in relation to undeclared work or violation of the terms of employment.
