The investigation into the case of placing an explosive device in a Prison officer's vehicle

Five mobile phones and small quantities of narcotics, the Police found, on Friday at the Central Prisons.

In his statements to KYPE and answering a question about today's operation of the Police at the Central Prisons, the Police press representative, Christos Andreou , said that as part of the cooperation with the Department of Prisons, today they proceeded to an operation in two wings of the Central Prisons in specific cells where convicts/undertrials live.

“Similar investigations have been done in the past and apparently others will be made and will follow in the future provided that there is information in relation to objects, which are forbidden to be possessed in cells of the Central Prisons. From the investigations, 5 mobile phones have been identified, which have been seized, as well as a small amount of narcotics which has also been seized”, he added.

In response to a question about the placement of a bomb in the vehicle of a Central Prison Officer, the Mr. Andreou said that regarding the placement of an explosive device in a specific vehicle, the case is being investigated.

He noted, finally, that the investigation is in full progress in order to clarify the motives for the placement of the specific explosive device , but also to identify the perpetrators.
