Assailant arrested in Minnesota of the murder of the model, Malisa Mooney. The woman's body was found in the refrigerator of her luxury apartment, while she was two months pregnant at the time of the crime.

The alleged perpetrator is a 41-year-old man from Minnesota who is in custody for the September slaying of the model, who was brutally beaten, bound, gagged and stuffed inside the refrigerator of her downtown Los Angeles apartment. Magnus Daniel Humphrey, who is on probation for federal drug offenses, was taken into custody at his home in Minnesota on a federal warrant, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He later waived extradition and agreed to be transferred back to Los Angeles to face charges stemming from the September slaying of 31-year-old Malissa Mooney.

Malissa Mooney, the sister of Guyanese pop singer Jourdin Pauline, was found dead in her apartment on September 12. According to court records, Humphrey was charged Dec. 6 with murder and torture. The charge of murder includes a special allegation of murder during the commission of torture. It is not known when Humphrey will be brought to Los Angeles and appear in court, and no details have been released about what led authorities to arrest Humphrey.

Investigators have not released the relationship between the victim and the 41-year-old man.

According to an autopsy report, the woman's body showed evidence of blunt force trauma, including abrasions, cuts and bruises around her head and neck, body and extremities. The model was last seen alive on September 6 on surveillance video at her apartment complex. Police went to her apartment on Sept. 12 in response to a call from her mother who asked to check. Officers who arrived at her home “found Ms Mooney's body wedged inside the fridge with blood on the floor outside it. The woman's wrists and ankles were tied, and those ties were tied together behind her back with various cables and articles of clothing,” nbc reports.

“Additional items of clothing were found around her face and neck. They also gagged her with clothes,” according to the report. The medical examiner's report noted that toxicology tests found evidence of recentcocaine use. The report also stated that the blunt-force injuries he suffered “are generally not considered acutely life-threatening by themselves. However, based on the circumstances of how the woman was found, these injuries suggest that she was likely involved in a violent physical altercation prior to her death.”

Malissa Mooney worked as a real estate agent at Beverly Hills-based agency Nest Seeker and had moved into the Skye unit in Bunker Hill just a month before her death. Her sister told local TV station KTLA that she was two months pregnant when she diedand always wanted to be a mom.
