Concerns that robots and Artificial Intelligence are taking our jobs are being addressed by a top Amazon executive. According to Stefano La Rovere, director of robotics, mechatronics and sustainable packaging at Amazon, the roles of humans are not just being lost but enhanced with advanced robotics and sophisticated technologies such as AI.

He tells us that new technology leads to the creation of completely new specialties and jobs and that Amazon by introducing new technologies has strengthened more than 50,000 jobs in Europe.

The e-commerce giant says it has installed more than 1,000 new technologies across its European network of fulfillment centers that deliver orders over the past five years, for a total investment of more than €700 million.

Technology at the Service of Man

At Amazon, robots and technology help employees, saving them from walking long distances, repetitive movements and lifting heavy weights.

In addition workers can learn new skills, acquire new abilities and achieve their career goals.

La Rovere added that in recent years more than 700 new job categories have created using technology. He gave the example of his own team, Amazon's Robotics and Artificial Intelligence division, which is focused on automating Amazon's vast network of fulfillment centers, which are responsible for packaging orders and making them ready for delivery to customers.
