Around November – December, a drilling rig will re-enter the Cypriot EEZ, this time in block 10 from the company ExxonMobil, said the current Minister of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism Natasa Pileidou.
In statements after the meeting of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, the Minister stated that in relation to the energy program we have worked very intensively with ExxonMobil which is the first company to proceed with drilling in block 10 of the Cyprus EEZ towards the end of the year.
As Mrs. Pileidou said, the contract with the drilling rig has already been signed and we are in the process of issuing the necessary permits, which are formal and are not expected to be delayed.
He added that experts from the US and other countries have started arriving in Cyprus to take part in the drilling process.
“We are on a very good path, we hope we will not have any surprises and we do not expect any surprises regarding the Pandemic issue. “We expect the drilling program to start again from November to December, followed by ENI TOTAL, which is also being consulted and we are proceeding with the planning”, he said.
