Nearly a thousand patients with Covid19 took the Merck pill in Cyprus – First observations

& Sigma; & chi; & epsilon; & delta; ό & nu; & chi; ί & lambda; & iota; & om; ; & sigma; & theta; & epsilon; & nu; & epsilon; ί & sigmaf; & mu; & epsilon; Covid19 & pi; ή & rho; & alpha; & nu; & tau; & omicron; & chi; ά & pi; & iota; & tau; & eta; & sigmaf; ta Merck & sigma & ; & Kappa; ύ & pi; & rho; & omicron; & ndash; & Omicron; & iota; & pi; & rho; ώ & tau; & epsilon; & sigmaf; & pi; & alpha; & rho; & alpha; & tau; & eta; & rho; ή & sigma; & epsilon; & iota; & iota; /> </p> <p> Almost a thousand patients have received the Molnupiravir antiviral pill in Cyprus, for treatment of Covid 19, said to KYPE the Deputy Director of Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health, Elena Papanagiotopoulou. </p> <p> p>According to Dr. Panayotopoulou, Merck's Molnupiravir, known in Europe as MSD, has been administered to 984 patients to date, with 7% eventually ending up in hospital. </p> <p> However, no deaths have been reported since administration of this drug, but also no report of an adverse side effect in Cyprus. </p> <p> Regarding the effectiveness of Molnupiravir, Elena Panayotopoulou stated that no safe conclusions can be drawn. </p> <p>He explained that in order to draw safe conclusions about the effectiveness of this antiviral pill, the same number of people would have to take a placebo and finally see how many of them would end up in the hospital. </p> <p> “We do not know of the people who would take the placebo, how many of them would end up in the hospital. “Therefore, it is risky to draw any conclusion,” he said.However, the Deputy Director of Pharmaceutical Services stressed that Molnupiravir “is a drug that is better to have than not to have, especially the population groups that need it.” </p> <p> He also stressed that No side effects were reported and no deaths were reported in Cyprus after administration of Molnupiravir, to note that no deaths from Molnupiravir have been reported in any other country. </p> <p> <strong> Proven efficacy in reduce hospitalization and/or death by 30%, reports report </strong> </p> <p> According to studies, Molnupiravir has been shown to be 30% effective in reducing hospitalization and/or death , especially in terms of mortality the reduction reaches 89%. </p> <p> Also, Molnupiravir has been shown to reduce the risk of serious illness or death in people infected with Covid-19 disease, from 14.1 % to people placebo, in 7.3% of people taking Molnupiravir, out of a total of 775 participants. </p> <p> Source: KYPE </p> <p><noindex></p> <div class=Source: politis.com.cy
