Shrove Monday is approaching, thousands of our fellow citizens are expected to “cut the Mutton of Lent”, either organized, in the context of events in municipalities and communities, or alone with their friends and family, in the fields. Inevitably, the attention of the citizens is focused on the weather report, on the prices of the goods of the Lenten table, as well as on the program of events that has been formed in different areas.
The events
& # 8211; Larnaca: On Shrove Monday, according to an announcement on social media, the Municipality of Larnaca invites citizens to the Tekke picnic area, from 11:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. The event will feature a music and dance program and chants by the Cultural Club “Athanasia”. Free traditional food and drink will be offered.
& # 8211; Germasogeia: The events of Clean Monday will take place in the Hunters' Park. The space is located on Potamias Street, next to the stadium with the synthetic turf. There, guests will participate in a traditional feast a rich program, with music by DJs and dances from the Cultural Club of Germasogeia, while attendees will be offered free bean soup.
& # 8211; Inside Neighborhood: The Municipality of Mesa Geitonia, in the context of popular traditions, organizes the established celebration for the “cutting of the mouti”, on Clean Monday, March 7, 2021, at Melina Mercouri Park in Panthea. With its announcement, the municipality invites everyone to come to “celebrate together, with dance, song and fasting food. The municipality will offer chairs, tables and music from a mobile discotheque “.
& # 8211; Brand: On Monday, the Petridis farm, in the community of Marki in the province of Nicosia, awaits the public, young and old, to become a group and will spend an unforgettable day together with nature and animals, with many different toys and a traditional Lent buffet! General admission will be 15 euros, for children under 12 years will be 10 euros, while children under 2 years will be entitled to free admission. The event will start at 09:00 in the morning and will end at 19:00 in the afternoon. The entrance also includes the Lent buffet & # 8211; 30 options.
& # 8211; Skarinou: The “Golden Donkeys Farm” is added to the citizens' choices, where on Shrove Monday, the entertainment will include a fasting buffet, kite flying, traditional games and live music. & # 8211; Pissouri: The Community Council of Pissouri organizes a beautiful event in Androunia Park. From 10:30 until 16:00, there will be a kite competition, free wine and lagana, music by Dj Pampos and many other surprises. All you have to do is take your food and your appetite to celebrate the coulombs in nature. Note that no reservations are made, while in case of bad weather the event will not take place.
& # 8211; Chapel: The Community Council of the Chapel in collaboration with all the organized ensembles of the community organizes an event with a rich festive program and competitions. The event that will start at 10:00 in the morning, and will take place in the open air next to the crossroads of Armenochori-Agia Marina, will have music from a mobile discotheque, competition with kites, free donuts, competition with rich gifts, bag races, rope as well and cycling route (those who bring their own bike) and much more. The event will take place if the weather conditions allow.
& # 8211; Koilani: The Community Council of our village invites us at 10 in the morning to the stadium of Agia Mavri to cut the Mouti of Lent, to treat laganas and plenty of wine and to celebrate together the beginning of the fasts.
& # 8211; Peanuts: The Arakapa Community Council invites the villagers and friends of the village to cut the Mutt of Lent together. The public is encouraged to come to the courtyard of the community multipurpose hall, taking their food with them, while the Arakapa Community Council will offer the wine.
& # 8211; Aradippou: The Municipality of Aradippou celebrates and invites the citizens to Rizoelia Park, on Shrove Monday, with a rich music and dance program, with a live orchestra, activities and games for children.

The weather forecast from the Meteorological Department is encouraging, for the three days, but also for Clean Monday, during which, however, it is not excluded that there will be a little rain and dust in the atmosphere. Specifically, on Saturday, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times partly cloudy, while isolated light rains are expected, mainly from noon onwards. In the highest peaks of Troodos it is possible to have a temporary light snowfall, at noon and in the afternoon. Dust is expected late at night, especially in the middle atmosphere.
On Sunday, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy, while local, mostly light, rains are expected. In the morning, very strong to strong east winds are temporarily expected, in windy areas. In the middle, mainly, the atmosphere will be dusty, or which gradually recedes at night.
On Clear Monday, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy, with the possibility of individual light rain, from noon onwards. The atmosphere may be slightly dusty.
The temperature will rise gradually until Sunday, to fluctuate around or just above the average climatic values, while on Monday it will drop slightly.
Prices of goods
The Consumer Protection Service publishes data on the levels of retail prices of consumer products for the day of Net Monday, for the prices that were valid on March 3. The survey covers a total of 77 points of sale & # 8211; large and small supermarkets and fruit shops & # 8211; which are active in all provinces and includes products that are most popular for consumption on this day (vegetables, salads, halva, seafood, etc.).
