The Institute of Greek Culture expresses its vertical disagreement with the selection of the song entitled EL DIABLO by the Cyprus Radio Foundation, to represent Cyprus in this year's “Eurovision” Song Contest.
In a statement issued on Friday, he adds that the response of R.I.K. in the many critical comments, that supposedly the song has other symbolism and that we have to see what is hidden behind the first reading of its lyrics, is hypocritical and in no way a serious or convincing argument of a state cultural organization.
Finally, he calls on those in charge to realize that the R.I.K. is not a private company or a for-profit organization and is not legitimized to act arbitrarily, when it comes to an international competition and an issue that completely touches the cultural identity of our people, lavishly wasting taxpayers' money, even in times of deep health and financial crisis.
